INTREPID COMMUNICATIONS NEWSLETTER

"The only thing that makes the difference in the way you feel right now is the thought that you are thinking right now. It doesn't matter how much money you've got; there are joyful people with no money and there are unhappy people with lots of money. How you feel is about how you are allowing the Source that is You to flow." - Abraham
This is the August 2003 edition of Intrepid Communication's newsletter. Feedback is welcomed, and if you prefer not to receive future issues, let me know.
Over the course of the last few weeks I have been noticing when I feel resistance and the effect it has on me. When I consciously let go of that resistance, no matter what it is about, I feel the flow of energy moving freely through me once again.

For example, on Saturday my husband and I were in the mood for dinner with friends, but hadn't made plans in advance. A couple popped in my mind as I was drying my hair that morning and I thought about inviting them, but then resisted because I knew they often made plans weeks ahead for their weekends. I did a little number on myself about waiting until the last minute. Then, looked at my watch to see if it was really too late to ask anyone. I decided to put it "out there" and trust that whatever was perfect would materialize.

A few minutes later, I saw on our caller ID the last name of the couple I had thought of. They called about a minute after I was thinking about them and I hadn't heard because of the hair dryer. Curious, I called back and we caught up for a minute or two, and then I asked if they were free for dinner. They were, and we got together and had a delightful evening with them.

Once I had released the resistance and embraced trust, the flow continued to bring what I wanted.

In an Abraham-Hicks workshop we attended recently, there was great analogy about how resistance affects us: it's like we're in front of a very effective, efficient fan. The air is moving across us and the blades are turning quietly and the air is flowing freely. Then, we stick a pencil in the fan blades and suddenly it's not nearly so quiet and that flow has been interrupted.

I believe there is a flow of pure positive energy, call it love if you like, that flows continually to us and is only interrupted when we change our vibration by turning to negative thoughts...that's like sticking the pencil in the fan. We notice it when our emotions get heavy; that's how we know that we have introduced a thought that is not harmonious with who we really are. You can feel it in your body as tensing up when you are expecting someone to be confrontational or an event to turn out different that what you want.

I have noticed that some people recreate frustrating experiences over and over by resisting the possibility of having it be different. They expect to get bad service in restaurants, and as we walk in, the resistance to that begins. Sure enough, they find something to complain about and once again, they spend a lot of time and energy talking about how poor service is "these days."

We get what we give thought to. It really is that simple, and yet it can be very easy to allow thoughts to wonder off in a direction where we don't want to go. Noticing resistance can be an easy gauge for realizing when thoughts have taken you down a weedy path. Once you feel it, you can identify what you are resisting and adjust your thoughts accordingly.
